A Star Who Changed Wrestling Forever
Born Terry Bollea in 1953, Hogan rose to fame in the 1980s with his powerful image and his catchphrases like
“say your prayers and eat your vitamins.”
He helped turn WWE into a global brand, winning six WWE Championships and headlining the very first WrestleMania in 1985 alongside Mr. T.
In 1987, he created one of wrestling’s most iconic moments when he slammed André the Giant in front of over 93,000 fans at WrestleMania III.
His later move to WCW in the 1990s, where he formed the New World Order (nWo) with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, sparked a wrestling boom that changed the industry.
Beyond the Ring
Hogan’s charisma carried him beyond wrestling. He appeared as Thunderlips in Rocky III and starred in Thunder in Paradise.
His reality show Hogan Knows Best gave fans a look into his personal life. Even with these successes, his life was not without controversy.
In a 2018 return interview, Hogan spoke about his mistakes after being recorded using racial slurs years earlier, saying,
“It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it, and I apologize.”
Health Struggles and Final Days
Hogan underwent more than 25 surgeries over the last decade, including a major neck surgery earlier this year. On Jake Paul’s “IMPAULSIVE” podcast,
Hogan revealed:
“I’ve had like 25 surgeries in the last ten years. Ten of them were back surgeries. I’ve had both knees and both hips replaced, shoulders — everything.”
Just days ago, his wife Sky Daily denied rumors that he was in a coma, writing on social media,
“His heart is strong, and there was never any lack of oxygen or brain damage.”
Family and Tributes
Hogan is survived by his wife Sky, whom he married in 2023, and his two children from his first marriage, Brooke and Nick.
His ex-wife Linda Hogan posted a nostalgic photo on Instagram days before his passing, remembering “the good old days.”
Fellow wrestling legend Ric Flair wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“I am absolutely shocked and devastated to hear about my close friend Hulk Hogan. Rest in peace, brother.”

A Legacy That Lives On
Whether as the red-and-yellow hero of Hulkamania or the black-and-white villain of the nWo, Hogan shaped modern wrestling.
His charisma, larger‑than‑life presence, and unforgettable moments made him a true global icon.
Fans and fellow wrestlers continue to pour out tributes, remembering not only the star in the ring but also the man whose influence went far beyond it.
Rest in peace, Hulk Hogan.
