Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 September 20262 min read

This page explains what information Trending (trending.nz) collects when you visit the site, why we collect it, and what your rights are under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Last updated: September 2026.

What we collect

Trending is a news and entertainment site. You do not need an account to read it, and we do not ask you for personal information to use it.

  • Technical data: like any website, our hosting provider and our security and delivery network (Cloudflare) process technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and block abusive traffic.
  • Emails you send us: if you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you and to deal with your request.

Cookies

We do not use advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set a small security cookie to tell real visitors apart from automated traffic. These cookies do not identify you personally.

Analytics and advertising

At the moment Trending does not run third-party analytics or advertising. If that changes, we will update this page before it starts, and explain what is collected and how you can opt out.

Our stories may link to other websites or include embedded content such as videos or social media posts. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and embedded content behaves as if you had visited the other site directly.

How long we keep information

We keep emails only as long as we need them to deal with your message. Technical logs are kept by our providers for a limited time for security purposes.

Sharing your information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We only share it where the law requires us to, or with the service providers that run the site for us.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email us at [email protected]. If you are not happy with how we handle your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
