Foo Fighters play two New Zealand stadium shows on their Take Cover Tour: One New Zealand Stadium in Christchurch on Tuesday 19 January 2027 and Western Springs in Auckland on Friday 22 January 2027. Neither show is sold out as of 5 November 2026, tickets run from $99.90 to $249.90 through AXS, and the Australian leg starts in Brisbane tonight.
Two stadiums, three nights apart, and a different pair of local openers at each. This is the band’s first visit since January 2024, and the Christchurch night is a milestone of its own. The Foos were the first international act announced for the new stadium, back in February. RNZ reported that before the stadium had even been completed. Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on 5 November is the first of six Australian dates this year, so setlists and reviews from across the Tasman will start arriving this week.
When are Foo Fighters playing in NZ?
Foo Fighters play Christchurch first, at One New Zealand Stadium on Tuesday 19 January 2027, and then Auckland’s Western Springs on Friday 22 January 2027. Those are the only two New Zealand dates. After Auckland the band fly to Perth for the final show of the whole tour on 25 January.

There is no Wellington, Dunedin or Hamilton show this time. The Take Cover Tour began in León, Mexico, in January 2026 and has since covered Europe, North America and South America. In Australia the band play Brisbane (5 November), Townsville (7 November), Sydney (10 November), Newcastle (12 November), Melbourne (14 November) and Adelaide (17 November) before breaking for summer.
Who is opening for Foo Fighters in NZ?
Each New Zealand show has its own two local support acts. Wellington’s DARTZ and Dunedin’s Seek Help! open in Christchurch on 19 January. Auckland bands Dick Move and Ringlets open at Western Springs on 22 January. Promoter Frontier Touring picked local openers for every city on the tour.

- Christchurch: DARTZ (Wellington) and Seek Help! (Dunedin)
- Auckland: Dick Move and Ringlets (both from Auckland)
Dick Move know the drill. The Auckland punk band also opened all three of the Foos’ New Zealand shows in January 2024. Set times for the support acts have not been published yet.

Is Foo Fighters Christchurch sold out?
No. As of 5 November 2026, Frontier Touring lists both the Christchurch and Auckland shows as on sale now, and One New Zealand Stadium says tickets are available through AXS. Neither page uses a “sold out” or “limited” label. Buy only through AXS, because tickets from resale sites may not get you through the gate.
What time do Foo Fighters start?
One New Zealand Stadium lists a 6pm start for the Christchurch show on 19 January. Set times for each act, including when the Foos come on, have not been published. Auckland’s gate and start times have not been published. Auckland Stadiums says they will be confirmed closer to the event.
Foo Fighters play after both openers. At their 2011 Western Springs show they came on at 8.20pm and played until 11pm.
What will Foo Fighters play? The Take Cover setlist
The New Zealand setlist won’t be known until the night, and the band change songs from show to show. Expect the big hits mixed with tracks from Your Favorite Toy, the band’s 12th album. Its title track came out as a single in February 2026. Here is a setlist the tour played in the US in April.
At Bridgeport on 28 April 2026 the set ran: All My Life, Caught in the Echo, Times Like These, The Pretender, Of All People, Stacked Actors, These Days, Walk, My Hero, Learn to Fly, Your Favorite Toy, This Is a Call, No Son of Mine, The Sky Is a Neighborhood, Shame Shame, White Limo, Spit Shine, Rescued, Under You, Aurora, Monkey Wrench, Hey, Johnny Park! and Big Me, with Best of You near the end. We will add the actual Christchurch and Auckland setlists after each show.
Who is in Foo Fighters now?
The 2027 line-up is Dave Grohl on vocals and guitar, Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett on guitar, Nate Mendel on bass, Rami Jaffee on keyboards and Ilan Rubin on drums. Rubin replaced Josh Freese, and the Take Cover Tour is his first with the band.
Freese was the drummer for the 2024 New Zealand shows, the band’s first in New Zealand after Taylor Hawkins died in 2022. Their planned 2022 visit to Aotearoa was cancelled after his death.

The Foo Fighters “earthquake” at Western Springs
In December 2011, about 50,000 fans jumped so hard at Western Springs that GeoNet seismic stations 1.5 and 2 kilometres away picked up the shaking. The motion looked like volcanic tremor, about three shakes a second. It began during Tenacious D’s opening set, the Jack Black and Kyle Gass duo, grew when the Foos came on, and stopped when the show ended. “We have the seismograph read out framed in the studio,” Dave Grohl later told The Rock’s Morning Rumble. Western Springs is the same venue for the 2027 Auckland show.
