Lynskey and Ritter married in 2020 in a small ceremony on the front porch of a house they were renting in Atlanta. They kept it to themselves until 2022, when Lynskey mentioned it in an interview with SiriusXM host Jess Cagle, as Entertainment Tonight reported. The series is created by Anya Beyersdorf, Daina Reid and Deb Balderstone, 1News reported. Patterson was convicted in 2025 of murdering three of her estranged husband’s relatives with a meal of beef Wellington containing death cap mushrooms. Before the Patterson news, Lynskey came home to make Pike River (2025), in which she played Anna Osborne, one of the women who fought for answers after the 2010 mine disaster. Robyn Malcolm played Sonya Rockhouse, and exterior scenes were shot around Greymouth.
The two actors became close friends and got matching liquorice allsorts tattoos after filming. “They bonded over sharing sweets with each other in court, so we thought it would be a nice way to honour them,” Lynskey told The Spinoff. Of working with Robyn Malcolm, she said, “it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. She’s a genius.”
